The Minister showcased the UAE’s maritime achievements, including a fleet of nearly 1,300 vessels and handling over 19 million TEUs in 2023, which contributed to an 18% GDP growth in the sector since 2021. With over 25,000 port calls last year, the UAE has reinforced its role as a global trade hub through strategic location, investment, and innovation.
A key point of the address was the UAE’s commitment to environmental goals, including a 40% reduction in emissions by 2030 and net-zero shipping emissions by 2050. The Minister highlighted initiatives such as ADNOC’s Low Carbon Solutions and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, underscoring the UAE’s leadership in green technologies like hydrogen fuel and carbon capture.
The Emirates Shipping Association continues to play a central role in shaping legislative frameworks, attracting investment, and driving innovation. By aligning industry stakeholders, the Association ensures that the maritime sector remains vital to the UAE’s economic and environmental ambitions.
