Emirates Shipping Association has issued a formal statement addressing the escalating threats to merchant and commercial vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement reaffirms the right of transit passage under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and calls on international bodies to take immediate action to safeguard seafarers and restore confidence in the region’s maritime corridors.

The statement is accompanied by aligned positions from the International Chamber of Shipping, the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, and the Asian Shipowners’ Association — reflecting a unified global industry response to the ongoing disruption.
