The Maritime Standard Awards marked its tenth anniversary with a grand event at The Atlantis on The Palm, Dubai, on November 7th. This gala, themed around Greek culture, was attended by a record-breaking 1,100 guests, featuring a lavish dinner and live entertainment. The awards, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum since inception, honored His Highness with a special Visionary Leadership Award.
The event saw the presence of Sheikh Khaled Al Sabah, CEO of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC), as a special guest of honor and included a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the anniversary. The keynote address was delivered by Capt. Mohammed Juma Al Shamisi, highlighting the decade-long success of the awards in setting industry benchmarks. The event was hosted by Gavin Esler, a renowned broadcaster, along with local presenter Rania Ali, ensuring a smooth flow of the ceremony. A total of 32 awards were presented, recognizing various maritime industry sectors and individual achievements. Notable awardees included ADNOC L&S and Bahri, along with individual winners like Idris Shahpurwalla, Catriona Jayasundera, Captain Ammar Al Shaba, Dr. Anil Sharma, Eng Ahmed Alsubaey, and Rashid Isa Rishi Al Heddi.
Reflecting on the success, Trevor Pereira expressed gratitude for the industry’s support over the years and looked forward to the 2024 event.
