The Emirates Shipping Association remains firmly committed to securing the future of the maritime industry, working closely with universities and education houses to reach conversion targets, and driving awareness and engagement through our initiatives for UAE youth seeking careers in the maritime cluster.

Monjasa Marine, an ESA partner, has successfully onboarded a number of cadets from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport. The Cadets were onboarded at an event held at Sharjah’s Port Khalid in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, along with personnel from Sharjah Port Authorities and the Sharjah Maritime Academy.

Anders Østergaard, CEO of Monjasa Group and Secretary General of the Emirates Shipping Association, said:

Our team is proud to have onboarded our new cadets across several strategically important roles.

Within 3 months of our initial onboarding ceremony, we have doubled the number of cadets on board our tankers (Monjasa Shaker and Monjasa Server) here in the UAE. These young people are the future of our organisation, and represent the future of our industry.

As a brief overview, out of the six:
– Two are female
– Three are Emirati nationals
– Four are Deck cadets
– Two are Engine Room cadets
