The purpose of the Emirates Shipping Association is to bring together ship owners, industry suppliers, and key decision-makers in the maritime sector through strategic networking events and exclusive leadership roundtables. These opportunities can help members advance and grow the global maritime industry. By engaging with local stakeholders, the association also creates chances for international dialogue.

The Emirates Shipping Association assists the maritime sector by serving as a hub of communication between industry players and authorities. It offers industry knowledge and speaks on behalf of the sector as a unified voice.

In 2019, the Emirates Shipping Association was formally reinstated through a ministerial decree in accordance with  Federal Law No. 2/2008 Concerning Public Benefit Associations and Civil Society Organisations with the Ministry of Community Development. The association serves the entire maritime industry, providing a platform for vessel owners, port operators, bunker suppliers, freight forwarders, insurance firms, legal professionals, and other ecosystem partners to collaborate under a unified maritime banner.

As the association is federally registered, its aim is to work along the 7 Emirates of the United Arab Emirates, and bring forth the voice of all.

Yes, the Emirates Shipping Association offers two different types of membership that are determined by the organization’s type and registration, as classified by the Ministry of Community Development and the Association’s board. These two types of membership are Associate membership, which costs AED 10,000 plus VAT, and Operating membership, which costs AED 20,000 plus VAT.

During  the General Assembly, each member organization is allocated only one seat, regardless of their membership category. For our Community Events, we reserve 1-2 spots for Associate members and 2-4 spots for Operating members. While we encourage maximum participation, we may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis for our community events.

Currently, membership is only available for organizations and not for individuals.

The Emirates Shipping Association strives to advocate for its members’ interests in the maritime industry by convening government and industry stakeholders and fostering discussions. Its goal is to encourage dialogue with regulators to achieve a positive impact and enhance efficiency within the UAE’s maritime industry.
